Lucid Thoughts

fleeting thoughts
linger in glimpses
not quite clear to me
               *
incomplete
very discreet
taking my focus
…gone
               *
what is life worth
rushing from
one event
to the next
if succulent moments
absorbed in decadence
are
transcended
by the mundane
              *
a single
marble
lost in a
crystal blue sea
forgotten by most
perhaps
but not by me
            *
memories peer
at what once was
thousands of marbles
vanished
departing my mind
a mere thread
in an intricate
quilt
holding something
together…
but I’m not sure what.

Glad I did stop by, your writing is really taking shape…Your blending a solid voice with your faith, which leaves one with the knowledge of your passion, but also, an artful style.

    I like that…

    “a single
    marble
    lost in a
    crystal blue sea”

Ah to remember the small things afloat in the mass of time.

Cindy your poetry touches my poets heart. I like the last stanza:

memories peer at what once was thousands of marbles vanished departing my mind a mere thread in an intricate quilt holding something together…
    but I’m not sure what.

  4. Solveig Says:

I, too, like the image of a single marble and then thousands of marbles vanished. Nice!

Bindo thank you… thank you for stopping by, I’m glad you did too, and also the kind words! I think it was your poetry that marked a mom rushing through life… I definately have been.

LL you caught the essence of my thoughtful ‘madness’… the marble was even more than a metaphor for a single thought, but also… at a modern art museum this week, my son saw a marble in an exhibit that I didn’t see at all… he was telling me about it on the way home. Because of the kids we rushed through so quickly… I am in the painful realization that in keeping up with life I am not keeping up with a proper introspection… small things lost indeed!

Robin thank you as well… I appreciate your coming by… my Mom makes these intricate quilts that takes several detailed looks to see all the different things she does with them…. do you use it as a quilt, do you use it as art? I choose to loving wrap up in it and try to collect the rest of my marbles! Thank you for stopping in!!!

    marbles, quilts, threads…
    yes, what seems mundane
    transcends

  8. Uncle Tree Says:

I heard there was a loose thread here, so I pulled on it.
Suddenly there were all these marbles on my floor.
Every time I picked one up a new thought entered my mind.
But these mundane thoughts aren’t mine. Are they yours, Cindy?

Nice picture you create here. I watched the marble return to it’s home.
Marbles are made out of glass, which is made from sand, which is made
by the ocean, which is made out of water, which made this poem a gas.

That’s a cool blue moon, too, made out of blue cheese, no doubt. Nice.

Nancy-Thank you. I love your sight, BTW.. and your eye for photography is great!

Uncle Tree… if you have stolen my mundane thoughts.. please return promptly!!! : ) I may have left something important in them! My grandfather often reffered to losing his marbles.. a saying that somehow managed down with the generations of our family. we are all lunatics, I tell you! Thank you for the kind words.

visiting from the RAP list. I like that you aren’t sure, taking the time to reflect on all of this living. I suppose that’s why we’re all here sharing.

  12. Larry Who Says:

This one needs to go in that book of yours. I like the phrase: “a mere thread in an intricate quilt holding something together”.

  13. Cindy Hanson Says:

Deb… I always appreciate your presence here!! do you have a blog? you’re comments don’t link back to one… if you do, please leave an adress, I’d love to visit!!! Cindy cindyhan111@yahoo.com

Larry… you know, I just am not sure about a book. allergic to paper.. all the revising… having to self publish… probably just feeling lazy today, but thinking I like leaving all this up for free consumtion and and it’s raw form! : ) Cindy
